Center's First Benefit Dinner

July 19, 2003

Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar Kihei celebrated its first anniversary with a six-course fundraising dinner for the Nisei Veterans Memorial Center.

Sansei chefs from Honolulu, Kapalua and Kihei prepared signature creations, including grilled marinated sweet Thai chile jumbo prawn, pan roasted fresh Onaga, grilled petit filet mignon, poached lobster medallion and a dessert trio featuring the flavorful fruits of Hawaii.  Each course – except dessert – included an appropriate wine pairing.  The evening also included sake tasting, entertainment and a silent auction.

“The benefit dinner is also a chance to celebrate major milestones in our effort to build Maui’s first intergenerational center,” said Hiroshi Arisumi, Nisei Veterans Memorial Center board president.  “The Maui Planning Commission and the Maui Burial Council have both recently approved our plans to build this nurturing center for the young and old of our community.
