September 29, 2004 - Dust and silt fences are up, building supplies are arriving on site, trenching begins for the sewer lines. November 1, 2004 - Water line is in and final grading is complete in preparation for the preschool slab. November 12, 2004 - Work in preparation for the pouring of the Preschool slab is underway, forms for the retaining wall between the Intergenerational Center and driveway are taking shape. November 17, 2004 - Preschool footing poured, and forms for retaining wall continue to take shape. November 20, 2004 - Work continues on preschool foundation and forms for the retaining wall. December 6, 2004 - Preschool slab and portion of retaining wall are poured. December 14, 2004 - First few courses of concrete block for the Preschool have been laid. December 17, 2004 - Walls of the Preschool building are almost complete. January 5, 2005 - Footing for another section of retaining wall is underway, forms for the headers of the Preschool building are almost done, excavation has begun for the perforated storm drains. January 7, 2005 - Rebars for the Preschool columns are readied for the forms, excavation continues for the perforated storm drains. January 10, 2005 - Pouring of the foundation for another section of the retaining wall, and for headers and columns of the Preschool. January 13, 2005 - Framing for the Preschool roof is underway, forms on another section of the retaining wall foundation have been removed, perforated drainage pipes are being covered up. January 19, 2005 - Plywood sheeting brings shape and visibility to the Preschool roof, and work continues on installing the storm drains. January 27, 2005 - The supportive scaffolding is off the Preschool building, and another section of the retaining wall is taking shape. February 2, 2005 - Steel walls delineate the classroom and bathrooms. Rebars being installed in next section of retaining wall form. Storm catchment system work continues. February 7, 2005 - Another section of retaining wall is poured. Electrical and plumbing work continues in the Preschool building. February 11, 2005 - The plasterers are putting on the scratch coat of the Preschool exterior. The first course of tar paper is on the roof. February 18, 2005 - Scratch coat is done. Work continues on the rafters inside the Preschool building. March 8, 2005 - Working on electrical conduit from Preschool to transformer near Kahului Beach Road. March 18, 2005 - Trenching for the footing of the rock wall and the ramp to the Adult Day Care faciity. Building forms to pour the concrete for the Preschool art lanai. March 30, 2005 - Footing for the rock wall and Adult Day Care facility ramp have been poured. The Preschool art lanai concrete floor is curing. The roof tiles have arrived, and will be installed shortly. April 5, 2005 - First course of the rock wall is being placed. The forms for the main steps from the parking lot to the Adult Day Care buidling are almost done. April 8, 2005 - The front side of the rock wall is taking shape as the weathered field rock is being pieced into place. Drywall is being installed in the Preschool classroom. April 11, 2005 - The steps at the front of the retaining wall, and the main steps from the parking lot to the Adult Day Care building were poured. Drywalling continues in the Preschool building, and the rock wall is almost done. April 20, 2005 - Gutters are being installed, drywall and window sills in the classroom are being sanded, and forms are off the main steps to the Adult Day Care building. April 29, 2005 - Rooftile is being installed, walls of the classroom have been primed, and the painters are working on the bathrooms. May 13, 2005 - Storm drain from Preschool area and drainage for Adult Day Care building. May 17, 2005 - Electrical conduit for the Adult Day Care building is being laid, excavation of footing for Adult Day Care foundation underway, and plumber is working on copper pipes in restrooms. May 20, 2005 - Excavation of Adult Day Care foundation footing is done. Ceramic tile being installed in men's and women's bathrooms. May 24, 2005 - Installation of rebars in Adult Day Care footing underway. Finishing up wall tile in keiki bathroom. May 27, 2005 - Finishing up installation of rebars in Adult Day Care footing. May 28, 2005 - Footing poured. June 2, 2005 - Installing rebars for columns of the Adult Day Care building. June 13, 2005 - Pouring first set of columns of the Adult Day Care building. June 20, 2005 - Pouring second set of columns of the Adult Day Care building. June 30, 2005 - Setting base course of tiles for the Adult Day Care building. July 13, 2005 - Spreading base gravel in preparation for pouring the slab for the Adult Day Care building. July 30, 2005 - Pour the Slab Celebration! Governor Linda Lingle, Senator Shan Tsutsui, and Representative Joseph Souki help the crew pour the slab for the Adult Day Care building. August 18, 2005 - Masons beginning work on the Adult Day Care building walls. August 30, 2005 - On-site fire hydrant installed today. Masonry work continues. September 6, 2006 - Masonry work continues. September 28, 2005 - Waiting for ironworkers to complete work on headers for the Adult Day Care building. October 8, 2005 - Pouring the concrete headers for the Adult Day Care building. October 13, 2005 - Installing the trusses on the Adult Day Care building. October 30, 2005 - Installing plywood sheeting for Adult Day Care building's roof. December 12, 2005 - Getting ready to start laying roof tiles, and finishing work continues in the Adult Day Care building. January 2, 2006 - Drywall being installed in Adult Day Care building. Volunteers clean the area above the back retaining wall. January 17, 2006 - Pouring portions of the sidewalk in front of the Preschool and Adult Day Care building that will have rocksalt finish. February 3, 2006 - Pouring portions of sidewalk that will have broom finish. Installing stainless steel counters in the kitchen, and windows in the Adult Day Care building. February 16, 2006 - Pouring portions of the plaza around the Adult Day Care building. February 24, 2006 - Installing the exterior doors, parking lot lights, and building the forms for the concrete tricycle path. March 28, 2006 - Tricycle path is done. Installing acoustic ceiling panels in Adult Day Care building, and starting to grade driveway. April 13, 2006 - Exterior building lights have been installed, lights and ceiling fans in Adult Day Care building are in, and fencing is on site. April 21, 2006 - Landscaping crew has started planting young trees in parking lot and on hillside behind the site. Flooring will be installed in the Adult Day Care and Preschool buildings next week. May 19, 2006 - Highway paving underway, installing aluminum gates and fencing, working on playground irrigation and topsoil.	"It is exciting to have construction of our Center underway. But in a larger sense, the Center is not about bricks and mortar, rooflines and pillars, or courtyards and playgrounds. It is about passing on the values of the Nisei veterans – their patriotism, their humble fight for civil rights, their love of their community."
