“Once again our Nisei veterans are stepping forward with
their foresight and “can do” attitude, this time bringing
together our elderly and keiki, forging bonds of intergenerational
friendship and experiences of lifelong meaning,” said Clint
Arnoldus, Chairman, President and CEO, Central Pacific Bank.
“In 1954, the young Nisei veterans
who had fought with
honor in World War II were faced with an uphill battle to secure
loans to start businesses. With their typical “can-do” attitude,
they solved the problem by starting their own bank – Central
Pacific Bank. Today our community is facing new challenges: the
aging of the population and the continuing need for quality preschools
in our two-wage earner economy. In building an intergenerational
center, the Nisei veterans are providing quality day care for frail
elders and a nurturing preschool for our keiki, creating an environment
for lasting impressions and priceless experiences. It is indeed
our honor and privilege to contribute to such a visionary effort,” said
Arnoldus.
